The came "Bearing" gifts.....

Thanks Tinia and Pat and Anne,
The bear was named "Patsy" so Tinia said she should come live at the Retreat! (She likes it here)
The roller skates came with their original box too! No key though.
and the Hatchem Incubator - well if you know me, you know that had to come live here too! You girls are just too kind! But I love it ALL!
The skates are on display now for Spring. The incubator is coming in my house however - awaiting some legs to make a table out of it again.
Thanks girls! Patsy

Game of Cat and Mouse (mouse won)

Sophie wanted to make sure I saw that she was earning her keep. She brought her prize from the basement of our house up to show me. Well the tiny thing was a kangaroo mouse and she would just let it hop about and then go find it. This went on for a good 20 minutes. (that is all I could stand) Finally, I got a broom and bucket and swept him up inside and threw the mouse out the door.

I know, I know. It probably beat me back inside. But at least I didn't have to watch Sophie end the game.

This weekend's group was the Sarah's Grove quilt group from Illinois. They had lots of talented people. And though I missed their show n tell cuz' I went in the house and fell asleep, I still saw lots of goodies. Here is some of them. Feathered star, thirties triangles, green stars in a star, oriental table runner. All were great!

A bunch of gals were making these cute stacked pin cushions from a magazine pattern. Must try one!

The small quilt is a challenge amongst the guild. One of the retreaters just turned an upstairs area into her sewing space and her sister fondly named it this. The challenge was to make something with one of the fabrics I think she used on a dress form.

The black blocks in a row are a sampling of her king size quilt. The smaller wall hanging was what she made with the cut offs. Her bonus quilt.
I need to get outside in the upper 50 degree weather. Later, Patsy

New/Old finds from the big city

These boots are made for mudd'in and you can see that I already tried them out. They have these at JoAnn's Fabrics. Debbie Mumm boots for $24. I would suggest using your 40% coupons but of course I didn't have one. Still, couldn't resist. I love boots that can slip on and off easy. I plan to use these to run back and forth to the retreat. They also have available some up to the knee boots and lots of colors to choose from. Sizes are Sm, Med, Large. I wear a size 9+ and Mediums fit me snugly but I didn't want them to flop and suck tight in the mud.

I went to a few thrift shops and got the metal case for $1. I will use it to put some antique toys in. I have collected lots and they are falling off my game shelf. The heart was made from a cutter quilt hopefully. It was half off so $2.50 for that. The Quilt is tied and was half off too. I just loved the feed sacks in it. I had never seen some of them before. The back of the quilt was barkcloth curtains. The quilt is very heavy so not sure what is inside. The antique shop had two resident kittys so Maxi is very interested in the quilt as well. I also got a 1950's tiny drop leaf table but Marty needs to fix a hinge on it. Then I will show you.
The bird pictures are for my bedroom remodel someday. Had to get them as I don't run across antique looking bird prints too often.
All for now, Patsy
